You buy credit, not a number of scripts.
Marking spends what that marking actually cost, plus our margin. A short paper costs less than a long one. Scripts sent together cost about half as much each as the same scripts sent one at a time.

Running low
Add credit at any time, from $20. Credit you buy outright rolls over and stays yours — including if you cancel the plan. Your monthly allowance is spent first, and what is left of it expires at renewal.
Send a class in one go. Ten or more scripts submitted together are marked as a batch, which costs us about half as much — and you are charged what it cost, so your credit goes about twice as far. Sending them one at a time is the expensive way to use Redpen.
Questions you would reasonably ask
- Why not a price per script?
- Because scripts do not cost the same. A 9709 Paper 3 is longer than a 2059 Paper 1, and a class sent together costs half a class sent separately. A flat price would mean charging everyone for the dearest case.
- How do I know what I have spent?
- Every charge appears in your account with what it was for and when. The app shows an estimate before you start and the exact figure after.
- What are the numbers above, then?
- A guide, not a promise — based on a typical script sent as part of a class set. Short papers go further; long ones less so.
- What happens if a script fails to mark?
- You are not charged for it. If you are charged for one that failed, tell us and we will refund it.
